Option 3: Friends and Family Program (Good choice)

An easy and effective way to transfer ownership of your timeshare is to sell it to someone you know, perhaps a relative or co-worker. This is your best option if simplicity is your goal and you can get a few thousand dollars for it. The big problem here is that this segment of the resale market is quite limited. Of the 1,000 plus transfers my closing company does each month, we only handle about a dozen or so like this. Another concern is based on a variation of the old adage, "never sell a used car to a friend.' Relationships may suffer if there isn"t full disclosure and, say, the buyer receives her first special assessment/maintenance fee. This can happen even when a transfer is made as a gift.

Note: Individuals use my closing services to transfer the ownership on the properties they sell to friends or family. While I make money from these transactions, I honestly consider this a good option.
